Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
