Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.
