Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
