Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but although many simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these gated guns could shortly earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a personal session so allies are not impaired?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, expecting a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
